So if you hear someone say that they need a little retail therapy, they are not kidding. This is a real thing.

So, how does the fun of shopping help us?

Well, shopping puts you in the driver’s seat. You are the running this show. You get to decide whether you do spend the cheese and on what special treat. Who can deny that control is raw adrenaline.

Then, there are the visual that one experiences during shopping. The stores do put in the work in this area. Theses visuals are stunning and does have an effect on shoppers. This fascinating sensory experience actually helps you to relieve anxiety, It does this by way of distraction.

No purchase is required to experience the medicinal effect of shopping fun. Even window shopping causes the feel good Dopamine to increase.

As with all medicine, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Yes, there is an overdose caution with this medicine as well.

So for those of you that thought you just got a license to feed a need, this is for you.

Here’s how you know you are tapdancing on an issue of concern:

Are you in control of your spending, or is the spending controlling you?

Is there a purpose to your purchase, or are you just buying because you can?

Are you still purchasing that item that you told yourself you had absolutely no need for it?

Are you the only person around you that does not have a problem with you shopping?

If these questions hit home, click the link above to find out the details of what is your next recommended step.

“Shopping is a woman thing. It’s a contact sport like football. Women enjoy the scrimmage, the noisy crowds, the danger of being trampled to death, and the ecstasy of the purchase.”
