    Out of Sight

    Out of Sight

    Out of Mind

Being out of sight can be both a good thing and a bad thing.

Have you ever heard of the saying ‘Out of sight, out of mind’?

If you don’t see it, you probably won’t think about it.

The obvious con here is missing something merely because it was not seen.

The lesson to learn here is to become in tuned and attentive to your surroundings.

It’s the little details that hide the secrets.

Proverbs often contradict one another, as any reader soon discovers. The sagacity that advises us to look before we leap promptly warns us that if we hesitate we are lost; that absence makes the heart grow fonder, but out of sight, out of mind.

History of “Out of Sight Out of Mind”

The Greek poem The Odyssey is one of the first usage of this saying.

This saying is both an idiom and a proverb.

If you didn’t know, an idiom is rarely obvious in its meaning. This particular saying is a perfect example.

Is this saying implying that if it can’t be seen by the eye, it means you are out of your mind? Hardly.

In this instance, “Out of mind” refers to memory, forgetting about something.

Essentially, if you don’t see it, you are probably not going to think about it.

Yet, this saying is applicable to all aspects of our lives. Whether we apply this proverbial saying to our personal or business life, it remains factually applicable.
